NORTH
TWEEDSMUIR PARK
Tweedsmuir Park, the largest park in British Columbia, covers
an area of more than 981,000 hectares in the west central
region of the province about 480 kilometers by air northwest
of Vancouver. Roughly triangular in shape, the park is bounded
on the north and northwest by the Ootsa Whitesail Lakes
Reservoir, on the west and southwest by the Coast Mountains,
and on the east by the Interior Plateau. Eighty kilometer
long Eutsuk Lake and the picturesque Pondosy Lake are surrounded
by the majestic Coast Mountains. A true paradise for canoeing,
sea kayaking and hiking.
TWEEDSMUIR
WILDERNESS RANCH
This 115 acre ranch is located in a beautiful setting around
Voyageur Bay of Ootsa Lake. The bay is well known for its
abundance of Kokanee trout while the main lake and Knox
Lake, which is located across Ootsa from Voyageur Bay are
well known for trophy Rainbow trout. Guests are welcome
to try their luck fishing the waters of Ootsa with fishing
boats and tackle available for rent. The main attractions
offered by the ranch are canoeing & seakayaking adventures
with hiking components into North Tweedsmuir Park. Transportation
to the entrance of the park at Chikamin Bay is approximately
two and a half hours and provided with a 27' covered aluminum
jetboat that is suitable for the dangerous waters of the
Ootsa and Whitesail Lakes Reservoir. There guided adventures,
unguided & outfitted adventures or just boat rentals
and/or watertaxis available.
ACCOMMODATION
All buildings have verandas and are overlooking the bay.
The kitchen and dining room is located in the main ranch
house. In this building, approximately 3 minutes walking
distance from the cabins, is also a guest washroom and shower.
The cabins are primitive but newly built and sleep up to
eight guests. They are equipped with a loft sleeping four
on mattresses, 4 bunk beds, closets, kitchen cupboards,
table and chairs, propane cooker and lights, a wash basin
and a wood heater. An outhouse is located approx. 50 meters
from the cabins.

HOW
TO GET THERE
We recommend a flight to Prince George or Smithers, British
Columbia, or Greyhound bus to Burns Lake via Prince George
from Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary. We will gladly meet
you there, and transfer you to our Ranch. Please check our
rates for applicable fees. Driving your own car, turn off
highway #16 in Burns Lake to Francois Lake. Cross the lake
with the ferry and continue towards Ootsa Lake. At the lake
turn left and follow the road for approx. I kilometer until
you see the sign at Marilla Road. Turn right and continue
for approx. 1 kilometer until you find our well marked entrance
to your right.
